A Workplace That Puts People First

A new Calgary office designed to enhance well-being, reduce stress, and elevate daily performance.

Client: Connor Clark & Lunn Calgary Location: 8th Ave. Place

Design Intent

Connor Clark & Lunn had outgrown their existing office in the Stock Exchange Tower — a space Insite had previously renovated twice. While the location had served them well, the firm was ready for a workplace that aligned with their growth, culture, and long-term operational needs. Moving into 8th Ave Place, an A-grade building, offered the opportunity to elevate the employee experience with enhanced amenities, increased natural light, improved building systems, and a more modern, connected environment.
The intention was to create a refined, high-performance workplace that reflects the firm's professionalism while providing staff with a healthier, more flexible, and future-ready space.

Design Strategy

The new layout focuses on daylight, transparency, and natural materiality to create a sense of openness and calm.
Key strategies included:

  • Introducing biophilic design elements — wood accents, textured fabrics, and integrated planting — to support well-being and reduce stress.

  • Implementing flexible meeting zones and open work areas for cross-team collaboration.

  • Using warm neutral palettes and refined detailing to express brand professionalism without corporate rigidity.

  • Incorporating acoustic solutions and strategic lighting to enhance comfort and focus.

  • Designing custom reception and boardroom millwork that reinforces the firm’s visual identity through clean lines and timeless finishes.

Results

The redesigned office now serves as both a high-performance workplace and a subtle brand ambassador. Staff report greater connection and satisfaction, and the environment better supports hybrid work and client engagement. The project demonstrates how thoughtful interior architecture can align corporate culture with everyday experience — a space where people genuinely want to work and connect.
