Designing Vision with Heart: A Modern Farmhouse Optometry Clinic that Reflects Family, Community, and Care
Client: DR. Bishop / Location: Legacy, Calgary, AB
Design Intent
After years of running his optometry practice within a LensCrafters environment, Dr. Bishop envisioned a new direction—one where his clinic reflected the values of a family-run business: connection, trust, and community.
The objective was to create a space that feels as comfortable as home yet professional and high-performing, blending the clinical precision of optometry with the heart of personal care.
This modern farmhouse approach combines natural materials, simple lines, and tactile warmth to invite patients into an environment that calms the senses and builds brand loyalty.
Design strategy
Insite Licensed Interior Design Group developed a cohesive concept that redefined the look and feel of an optometry clinic.
Key Design Moves:
Natural textures + black accents evoke timeless contrast and balance.
A live-edge consultation table symbolizes craftsmanship and authenticity.
Custom eyewear displays create visual order while highlighting premium brands.
Sliding barn doors soften transitions between public and private zones.
Integrated digital touchpoints (tablets and iPads) modernize the patient experience while maintaining a boutique aesthetic.
Daylighting and material warmth support well-being, while careful zoning ensures smooth client flow—from reception to exam to selection. The result is a space that’s efficient for staff and enjoyable for patients.
It all began with an idea and a blank space.
